Comparison of 1963 vs. 1964 Lug Wrench

In addition to the 1963 version being painted black, and the 1964-65 version being plated silver, the heads of the two lug wrenches are markedly different.

Another photo to the right shows two 1963 Lug Wrenches painted black.

The left-most one is reportedly an early version with a weld mark around the head.

The middle one has a shorter head.

The right one is plated silver and was found in the 1964-65 versions
